- POC: release of Prisoner of Conscience, to say a person who was imprisoned solely on grounds of expressing his opinion.
- ill-health: the person in custody is in bad health, and not obtaining appropriate medical treatment.

Ongoing Campaigns:

* Since January '98, there is an ongoing flow of letters written on behalf of Dr. Than Aung, a prisoner of conscience, from Myanmar. See elsewhere.

* During 1997, the Health Professionals Network was involved with the Turkey campaign. Numerous letters were written to health professionals and medical organizations in Turkey, regarding the importance of clinging to ethical standards, while giving appropriate treatment to all who need it and fighting against torture.
