Now, open the "t" cut, insert the woodless bark -bud side out !- and slide down until the bud can make contact with the underlying wood of the stock plant.   Push the flaps of your "T" cut back over the scion.
 

Tie gently with a rubberband,
 
 

overlapping it a bit as you wrap.  Keep the union safe from overhead watering for a week or two.

After the bud begins to grow, remove the wrap, and any part of the stock plant you don't intend to keep.
