Interview with Francesca

for Time Out Magazine, Cyprus

1) What is the reason for organizing this The Mind, Body & Spirit Exhibition and what do you want to make out of it?

I feel that it is a good use of my time and energy to bring people working the fields of complementary health therapies and self-development together to co-operate and raise awareness of people in Cyprus about the many tools that are available to help each individual help themselves.

We want to make a regular forum by providing the structure for people both on the island and overseas speakers to exchange their knowledge. I also want to have fun meeting and making friends with the many interesting people who are working in this fascinating field.

2) What exactly is going to happen in the exhibition?

There will be over 70 people exhibiting. Some are therapists, some psychics, some have shops selling natural products, organic food stuffs and hand-make items. There will also be 36 different lectures, presentations and sample classes as well as a programme for children.

3) Since you both you and Anette travel a lot, on what level is Cyprus in the alternative methods, compared to other European countries? Is there something missing?

I think Cyprus is pretty up to date in these fields. There is an ever-growing interest in health and self-development. It would be good if complementary therapies were more accepted by the medical establishment and insurance companies–not only are they great for the prevention of disease in the first place but they also greatly speed up recovery time in the case of surgery or chemotherapy. I know that in the UK and Germany these therapies are gaining more acceptance. We are in the forefront of a new way of thinking about health. These thing WORK so it’s only a matter of time before their use will be widespread.

4) What would you say to the people who are skeptic and unfamiliar with this kind of methods, in order to make them come to the exhibition?

What do you have to loose by learning more? A couple of hours of your time – and the experience may save your life!

5) Which of these methods you prefer mostly and you use in your live, and what benefits did you gain out of them?

It’s all about the process of becoming aware of who you really are. Different methods, different teachers will be “right” for different people and at different stages of their development. I first encountered Zen meditation at university. I can say it was torture to sit and stare at a wall for 5 minutes! However, years later, that early experience left me open and curious about meditation & other ways of taking control of my own thoughts – turning off that annoying “tape” that constantly ran through my mind – preventing me from truly experiencing the moment I am in NOW. I like to practice yoga and Tai Chi daily to “tune” myself, keep myself calm, open the energy flow (we KNOW from physics that all matter is actually energy – if we take care of ourselves on an energetic level it’s much easier to stay healthy). Through stretching & calming the physical body it’s easier to calm the mind, to observe emotions and learn to respond to situations as the occur rather than to react based on past experiences of hurt – often patterned in childhood. When we live in the present everything becomes easier and a lot more fun! I also use the QXCI on a regular basis to keep tabs on where I am both physically and emotionally and make the necessary adjustments before an imbalance can manifest as disease.

6) Which methods do you think have really something important to offer to one’s health and well-being?

All methods have something to offer to someone – the trick is to find what is right for you at this time. Even just taking the time to investigate, to speaking with different people on this deep & genuine subject instead of only talking about movies, cars or what you will eat for dinner is a healing experience.

7) Are there going to be more Mind, Body & Spirit Exhibitions?

Yes, Anette Martinsen and I plan to keep up the momentum with two exhibitions each year – one in Limassol in the Spring (dates depend on Easter!) and November in Nicosia.
