FORENSIC EXPERT

According to the dictionary, forensic pertains to or applied in legal proceedings. In todays world the potential for a lawsuit is more common every day. Nobody, except the lawyers, wants a lawsuit. The court is one place that demands excellence if you want to emerge a winner.

I have been involved in many different types of lawsuits where the farmer was attempting to regain money he had lost due to negligence or erroneous action on the part of a vendor.

My talent in this area is the ability to explain to your attorney the basis of why you are needing retribution, and why the damage cost what it did.

An example would be a terrible error at a feed mill where urea was fed at almost 100 times the recomended dose. When the cows ate the feed it killed about 10% of the herd before the farmer realized the severity of the poisoning. By the time he chased the cows away from the poisoned feed, the survivors had ingested enough urea to cause abortions. The remainder either dried up and quit producing milk entirely or had their production severely damaged.

Obviously with this damage the lawyer needed help, to compute the losses from deaths, from abortions, from disruption of the calving interval for the herd, the tremendous cost of veterinary assistance to try to save the damaged cows, from milk loss and from premature culling of good producers.

These losses were very real and were in addition to the pile of dead cows.

This sort of planning changed the ability of the plaintiff to recover a much greater percentage of his loss and it would not happen without the expertise of knowing how to prove the loss.

Anybody can count dead cows but the other losses were much greater than the death loss.

A good forensic expert can change the tide in a litigation. Our goal is to settle without going to court. I have been involved in all sorts of different cases and can be a great asset for your ability to recover losses.

Some examples of cases I helped win are poison, damaged cows due to improper installation of milking machines, error in feed formulation resulting in poor feed conversion, stray voltage, malicious mischief, negligence in design of pipeline in milking parlor, settling claims from insured cows rescued from barn fires. One case for example, a milking machine installer put the wrong size pulley on the vacuum pump, and the result was an inadquate cfm (cubic feet per minute). This resulted in so much mastitis that it forced the owner into bankruptcy. Without the expertise of showing why this happened and how mastitis can ruin the profitablility of a cow herd the farmer would surely have lost the case. After the case was properly presented the farmer got a settlement without going to court.
