The Menehune Marchers Club became the 456th club nationwide to be chartered by the American Volkssport Association on July 22, 1987 in Honolulu, Hawaii.
It is a non-profit association sponsoring non-competitive walking and swimming events on a year-round basis, with special scheduled events at certain times of the year. Its goal is to foster and promote good health through regular, enjoyable exercise.
The club is a voluntary association without paid staff or sponsors. It organizes the Hawaii events in accordance with the AVA and IVV guidelines, which makes participants in its events eligible for various awards and recognition by the National and International organizations.
Membership in the club entitles you to a club patch, newsletters and event flyers. Family memberships are $12 (USD) yearly with individual membership at $8 (USD).
Along with co-sponsors such as McDonald's of Manoa Marketplace, New Otani Kaimana Beach Hotel, Sunray Market, Zippy's Restaurant at Vineyard Blvd, Castle Medical Center, Kona Seaside Hotel and the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, this club has 8 YREs (Year Round Events) or walks that can be done any day of the year.
