Author
I am Teo Kok Eng from Singapore, situated at the southern tip of Malaysian
peninsular in south-east asia. My current involvement in English Dharma
(Buddha's Teaching) propagation has spurred me to set up an experimental
web page to promote Dharma (particularly insight mediation) to all people
searching for the Truth and an end to Samsara (cycle of birth and death). The
good side effects of meditation have been numerous, particular one associate
with good health, relieve stress and tranquility of the mind. A lot of
people have been side-tracked into these by-products of mediataion, losing
sight of the real sense of purpose of life, i.e. Nibbana (Enlightenment).
It is my sincere wish that all beings who take up meditation (mental cultivation)
walk on the path towards enlightenment besides gaining from the positive
effects of meditation.
May I wish all people who have visited my web site be well and happy and exert continuous effort in meditation for their betterment of their life.
With Metta (Loving Kindness) From Kok Eng.
What You'll Find on Samadhi Page
The main theme of my home page is mental cultivation. Taiji and healing
are just by-products of meditation. The content on these 3 topics will
be geared towards more on the aspect of Nama-Rupa (Mind-Matter) and an
insight to the workings of the mind. Taiji and healing perhaps stress more
on how the mind can affect the body and also fufill the wishes of some
aspirants of good health. Japanese Animae (particularly MACROSS) is just
added to spice up the page to reduce boredom.
Meditation (Bhavana - Mental Cultivation)
The meditaion programme will be adapted from the one designed to teach Buddhist Mental Cultivation conducted by Venerable Amatha Gavesi adopted by the author in Singapore. The structure of the programme currently starts with a Basic Buddhism Course followed by 5 modules of sutra discussion pertaining to insight development. The course material will be made availiable in this web site. However, the practical meditation aspect as taught by the instructors will not be availiable as it is highly difficult to put them in words and describing the experiences will only serve to mislead the readers.A lot of pali terms will be used in conjunction with the English substitutes. Please note that the English translation may not describe adequately the meaning of the pali terms. Some terms are described in the language of the mind (for those who have developed insight) and please do not grasp their meanings and relate to concepts and views pertaining to the 5 sense bases.
