Honesty to Dhamma

An honest person is honest to his own will and aspiration.
He does what he promises to himself.
Being thus responsible,
He arrives at the goal quickly.
To be honest to our deeds,
To be honest to our goodness,
Means to act without coveting recognition.
Some people want to do good and to be good,
But cannot succeed. Why?
Because they are not honest to their aspirations.
They give in to defilements.
It's not good just to make a good wish.
If we do not perform a good deed,
Our wish can never be fulfilled.
We need to practise, to control our action.
It might be difficult in the beginning.
It might be tiring  to make an effort to do good.
But, after we are able to control our feelings,
We can be right on the noble track.
A person unable to control himself is useless.
Pitiful indeed is he,
Who does not know how to stop,
Who does not know how to calm down,
Who does not know how to reflect upon
The good cause and the good deed.
May you all practise
Concentrating on a wholesome thought.
