List of precautions
If you're taking terbutaline or another beta-adrenergic
The following is a list of recommended precautions (F. Kubli, Universitats-Frauenklinik, Voss Strasse 9, D-6900 Heidelberg, F.R.G.):
- Careful evaluation of cardiovascular history;
- ECG before and in weekly intervals during treatment;
- Determination of potassium and magnesium levels and substitution if necessary;
- Maximum dosage of beta-agonist should not be surpassed;
- Fluid overload must be avoided;
- Additional calcium and Vitamin D should be avoided;
- Halothane anesthesia should be avoided;
- If corticosteroids are used, CVP must be monitored and a fluid balance established.
