List of precautions

If you're taking terbutaline or another beta-adrenergic

The following is a list of recommended precautions (F. Kubli, Universitats-Frauenklinik, Voss Strasse 9, D-6900 Heidelberg, F.R.G.):

• Careful evaluation of cardiovascular history;

• ECG before and in weekly intervals during treatment;

• Determination of potassium and magnesium levels and substitution if necessary;

• Maximum dosage of beta-agonist should not be surpassed;

• Fluid overload must be avoided;

• Additional calcium and Vitamin D should be avoided;

• Halothane anesthesia should be avoided;

• If corticosteroids are used, CVP must be monitored and a fluid balance established.
