I graduated summa cum laude from the National College of Chiropractic in 1997. I earned my bachelor's degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (birthplace of the World Wide Web) in 1994. I spent most of my life in suburban Chicago, moving to Appleton, Wisconsin in 1998. My wife, Eleanor Peters, MD, completed her family practice residency at UW Health/Fox Valley Family Practice in 2001. In August 2001 we moved to Kent, Washington, a suburb of Seattle. I attended Bastyr University in Kenmore, earning my Doctor of Naturopathy (ND) degree in June 2004.
Eleanor and I welcomed our first child, Isabelle Grace, on October 3, 2001. She was joined by a sister, Rebecca Rose, on February 16, 2004. We also have our hands full with two cats.

My personal hobbies include bicycling and genealogy. I have traced my family back five generations along a couple of branches. Web sites such as Cyndi's List, Kindred Konnections, and Ancestry.com have provided key information; however, anyone who takes more than a casual interest in genealogy will tell you that primary research is essential. Eleanor and I have made periodic pilgrimages to the National Archives and Records Administration in Chicago, repository for census data, immigration records, and military lists.
My family mainly hails from the Chicago area, as well as Stoughton, Wisconsin, and Springfield, Ohio. I am also concerned about human rights and the environment. I am a long-time supporter of Amnesty International, one of the largest human rights organizations in the world. You can easily do good for the world by clicking on The Hunger Site and The Rainforest Site.
For entertainment, I love Celtic music and world music. One of my favorite artists is Canadian songstress Loreena McKennitt--what an enchanting voice! (She also has plenty of Web-savvy fans out there.) When in the Midwest, Eleanor and I enjoyed attending the Bristol Renaissance Faire (near the Wisconsin-Illinois border). The town of Gig Harbor boasts the Washington Renaissance Fantasy Faire every August--a splendid outing.
