THE ROOTS OF DEPRESSION IN A SUICIDAL CRISIS: A TRANSPERSONAL APPROACH
The Transpersonal Journal
is published by The Transpersonal Institute of New Zealand, and
is its official journal. At present, the editorial board comprises
Peter Jackson and Bruce Nicol. The Editors will, from time to
time, co-opt guest editors, advisors and contributors.
The opinions expressed in
the articles and other materials in this journal are not necessarily
those of the Editors, nor represent the views of the Institute.
Parts or all of this journal
may be downloaded and printed by subscribers provided this is
done for educational, scholarly or research purposes, and is restricted
to single copies. For print-out of multiple copies and for purposes
outside the above uses, written permission must be sought from
the Editors.

________________________________________________
It is with great pleasure that
we launch this journal. This, and the creation
of the Transpersonal Institute, has been a dream of ours for quite
some time now. The realisation of this dream has been made possible
by the technology we and you are using right now.
For a long time, we have both
felt frustrated in our attempts to publicise our researches and
views on transpersonal issues. Our own professional body, the
New Zealand Psychological Society, is far too committed to its
reductionist and logical positivistic orientation to consider
publishing the type of articles that will be found in this journal.
Likewise, we have met with many rejections by refereed journals,
that appear to take a perverse delight in their very high rejection
rates (as high as 95% in some cases). While we support the concept
of a quality control mechanism, we feel that the application of
this concept by many journal publishers acts to block rather than
facilitate new writers. In fact, there operates somewhat of a
"catch twenty two" situation in which to get published
one needs a publication track record. We seek to redress this
situation for researchers, scholars, writers and practioners,
who have something important and valuable to communicate. We hope
that we never fall into the trap that sems the fate of so many
journals. Our rejection process will be guided by quality, but
the major rejection factor will be space limitations within the
website, and the time-energy we have available.
We hope that you enjoy reading
this first issue, and would be glad to hear your views, general
or specific. If you would like to get published in the next isssue,
then get in touch by email, sending (as an attachment) an abstract
of your article (do not intially send the entire document). If
you do not have email, or are unable to send attachments by email,
then write to us at the PO Box number. Tell your friends and colleagues
about this website and its journal. If you know of some one without
access to this technology, but having some thing vital to publish,
then offer to send their material to us.
A medium such as this knows only
the bounds of the planet and access to the technology. Its does
not matter where you are on the planet. You can become a subscriber
and author from your own place.
Value your journey and don't
worry too much about the destination.
