Taxotere recalled by company due to mislabeling

BRIDGEWATER, NJ -- Mar. 27, 2001 -- Aventis Pharmaceuticals has initiated a voluntary recall of Taxotere® (docetaxel) for Injection Concentrate 20-mg active and diluent vials.

The recall affected two production lots that were mistakenly labeled. Cancer doctors have been notified of the mix-up and an Alert with a copy of the letter sent to physicians are posted on the FDA's Web site.

The lot numbers for this recall are: 0P273 (active) which was packaged together with diluent vials with the following lot numbers: 0T446 (diluent) or 0T449 (diluent).

There have been no reports of complaints due to the mislabeled vials.
