Single Mushroom

This will give you a two second speed burst
This item does not appear in battle mode


Triple Mushroom

This gives you 3 two second speed bursts
This item does not appear in battle mode


Super Mushroom

This gives you as many speed bursts as you want for about 15 seconds once you start using it
This item does not appear in battle mode


Green Shell

This shell travels in a straight line and will bounce off walls. You can hold Z to hold it behind you and you can hold down to shoot it backwards.


Triple Green Shell

Once activated three green shells will circle around your kart. You can only shoot them forward.


Red Shell

These shells act like heat-seekers to your nearest opponent. They shoot out straight at first, then they aquire a target and go for it. It will be lost if it hits a wall.


Triple Red Shell

Once activated three red shells will circle around your kart. They are used just like the single ones.
This item does not appear in battle mode


Spiny Shell

This shell acts as a heat-seeker towards the kart in first place. It will destroy everything in it's path. If you hold it behind you with Z, you can swing in front of an opponent and knock him out and keep the shell.
This item does not appear in battle mode


Fake Item Box

Drop this item on the track and anyone who runs into it will be sent flying. It can be hard to avoid since it looks like an item box except the question mark is upside-down.


Banana

Drop it on the track and anyone who hits it will slip and spin out. It can be thrown in front of you by holding up


Banana Bunch

Activate it and five bananas will trail behind your kart. You can drop them or throw them one at a time.


Ghost

This will steal an opponents item and make you invisible. While invisible nothing can harm you.


Super Star

For about 10 seconds you will be invincible and will flash. Ram opponents to send them flying


Lightning Bolt

Use this to shrink every other kart. Shrunk karts drive a lot slower and if they touch anything they will be squished. The lightning bolt will not affect anyone who is invincible, invisible, on dash lines, or being picked up by lakitu.
This item does not appear in battle mode
