Sakthi Malai:

  Devotees along with their families observe penance and fast for 5 days, and on completion of their fasting, go to the Siddhar Peetam to perform certain religious rituals to the Swayambu. The belief is that this penance will cleanse the soul of its sins.  Even women and children are allowed to observe this penance and make the offerings.  Several thousands travel by foot (Pada Yathra) to Melmaruvathur while observing this penance to carry out the rituals and improve their family well being.

  The Almighty Adhiparasakthi, when She manifested Herself in Her favorite and chosen Son Bangaru, She empowered Him with all Her powers as She says so in Her Oracle:
 

  Amidst stiff opposition from His fellowmen and the surrounding villages, His Holiness endured many hardships in the initial stages to give Oracles. In the course of time, His Oracles gained recognition from near and far. Funds collected from the Oracles helped to transform the dry , barren lands of Melmaruvathur into a model township, which is planning Commission’s paradise.

  Having created an atmosphere of peace and brotherhood among all his devotees, His Holiness commands total respect and dedication from each and everyone of His followers. They pledge to unite and contribute, each in his own way, for the noble causes and deeds that benefit mankind at large.

  Contribution to a charitable cause such as this is a  sure way of lessening our “Karma” (sins). Whatever advice is given by His Holiness through His Oracles is a sure path towards cleansing our souls, which ultimately lead us to the Lotus feet of Adhiparasakthi Herself.
