1996 TKE Challenge for Pediatric AIDS

The 1996Challenge for Pediatric AIDS

1996 brought the TKE Challenge to a more local cause. Saint Michael's Medical Center, just across the street from the TKE House (271 M.L. King Blvd.), is home to the Peter Ho Memorial Clinic, one of the largest Outpatient AIDS Clinics on the East Coast. Essex County has the highest AIDS rate in the state of New Jersey, as well as one of the highest in the country. TKE had always donated Christmas presents, pumpkins, and clothes for various wards of the hospital, but here was a way to give more than a plain donation. We could get them awareness.

Well, Awareness, we got them. By involving the 15 chapters of TKE in New Jersey, we were able to get high visibility of the Peter Ho Memorial Clinic through word of mouth, radio public service announcements, and newspaper articles.
