Last January 14th 1999 clients of Boavista Interatlântico Bank that went to the bank to check their investments got a big and unpleasant surprise. Almost all their investment were lost!
Questioned by the clients the bank spokesperson gave a suspicious explanation: "The bank investment board did an option to set 200% of the investment found net patrimony on US$ future market (this is gambling with our money). As the Brazilian Government opened the dollar exchange band, almost all the investments were lost".
The bank came to public stating that the clients were aware of the risks and this was a legal operation.
We of the Association of the Harmed by the Boavista Interatlântico Bank questioned the bank through the Brazilian Central Bank (the Brazilian equivalent to the Fed) to present all the agreements and authorizations allowing such kind of investments.
The Boavista Interatlântico Bank was unable to present such documents because there was none to present, we NEVER gave them such as authorization.
The Boavista Interatlântico Bank proposed a ridiculous settlement to pay us back a part of money invested.
IF YOU ARE AN Boavista Interatlântico Bank's INVESTOR DO NOT SIGN THIS SETTLEMENT. WE ARE SUING THEM TO HAVE ALL OF OUR MONEY BACK.
We worked hard to make this money and we ARE going to GET IT BACK!!!
To those that do not know, Boavista Interatlântico Bank is owned by the following groups:
A French bank Caisse Nationale de Crédit Agricole
A Portuguese Bank Banco Espirito Santo
A Brazilian Group Grupo Monteiro Aranha
!!! Beware of these people !!!
