Subject: Re: WM: Word Faith teaching
Dave,
Certainly I have no trouble with God's blessings on our lives, but Price's teachings go too far in emphasizing material prosperity, especially when he boasts about his seven luxury cars that he doesn't have to drive twice in the same week, his $25 million net worth, his yacht, his jet, his helicopter, and his 25 room mansion, not to mention his boasting of no debt either. I have the video where he says this. Don't get me wrong, I'm a capitalist, too. However, 1 John 2:15 warns about the pride in riches. We should not boast about such things. Furthermore, regarding God getting the glory from healing, that is true, but it doesn't answer the fact that all are not healed and yet live tremendous Christian lives. What of Joni Erickson Tada??? Does she not have enough faith??? Would Fred Price dare say that God doesn't get glory out of her situation UNLESS she is healed for all to see? Exodus 4:11 says "Who gives speech to mortals? Who makes them mute or deaf, seeing or blind? Is it not I, the LORD?" As much as I believe in God's ability to heal, I also believe in His sovereignty to say "NO" ! Life has not guarantees, and as I stated in prior postings, the healings that Scripture records are selective for the purpose of showing that God's Kingdom has arrived, although not consummated. This means that any divine intervention into our natural order in the form of healing or any miracles is a foretaste to the final eschaton. Any healing, if genuine, is only temporary. Talk to you soon.
