Michelle says:

>>>Is God not glorified when His people who may be suffering physically, emotionally, financially, etc., yet who do not complain and do not blame God for their problems, and choose to praise Him throughout their ordeals?

Dave:

Sure. People can glorify God in spite of their situations that they deal with. I'm not saying that. Please follow my reasoning. God does not get glory because a person is blind. However, the blind person can still glorify God since the Bible says "In everything, give thanks." It doesn't say "thank God for everything." If I was blind, I would not thank God for the blindness. Who in their right mind would do that? If I had cancer, I would not thank God for the cancer. No Michelle, we are to give thanks "in" everything, not "for" everything since everything is not from God that is bad.

Michelle:

>>>Is He not glorified when that happens?

Dave:

Only if they give God praise for who He is...not for they're financial problems.

Michelle:

>>>Was God not glorified when Job refused to curse Him or charge Him with wrong even though Job was suffering terribly?

Dave:

God received the glory. Look at the latter end. Job had twice as much at the end than the beginning.

Michelle:

>>>Was God not glorified when the early Christians kept the faith and persevered, even though they were severely persecuted for their faith?

Dave:

Now that is different. There is a huge difference for being persecuted for the gospel and even dying as a martyr for Christ and sickness, financial problems, etc. One is suffering for the gospel sake and the other is problems in life that God says we can overcome through the Word. Don't confuse persecution with problems of life that come our way.

Michelle:

>>>Is not God glorified in the life of our dear suffering sister Joni Eareckson Tada, whom God has not healed?

Dave:

Actually, there is a difference between a "healing" and a "miracle". Healing is promised in the Bible. Miracles are not promised. Sister Joni would need a miracle. But thank God she has kept her faith strong in God.

I hope this clarifies my "only"...I used a poor choice of wording.
