In 1969 my father purchased a 1966 Corvair Corsa convertible for $800. This was my first introduction to the corvair. It is red with a white interior, a white top, and a manual 4 speed transmission with a 140HP four carburetor engine. Once we moved to Houston he never drove it much, but always kept it either in the garage or outside under a cover. He would tinker with it every now and then, and even tried painting it himself. I remember several people coming by and offering to buy it from him, but he never wanted to sell it. I eventually inherited the corvair from him, and presently it is at the mechanic getting some work done on it. I took some pictures of the car when I went to visit the mechanic, and they can be seen at my Photo Album by clicking the link below. The car needs some work though, and that paint job my father did looked good for a while, but now it doesn't look so good. It's one of the projects I will have to tackle! See the pictures below showing how my car looks now.
