Christmas Greetings from the Zimmermans!
In light of the events of the past few months, it seems even
more appropriate to keep in touch with friends and loved ones. We look forward
to hearing from all of you too. This year held many blessings for us and we
will share a few.
Kristen and Brent moved into their first new home this past
fall. They are about two hours north of us in Loveland, CO. Brent finished his
classes for his Master’s Degree and is teaching at Loveland Christian High
School. They also have a new addition – a miniature Italian Greyhound named
Titus. We got to meet Titus over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Bethany spent most of this past year in Japan teaching
conversational English. In the spring, she got engaged to Grant Bell. Grant
proposed as soon as he got off the plane in the Tokyo airport because, “He
couldn’t wait!” We are looking forward to a February wedding. Bethany was
scheduled to fly home the day after the attack on America in September.
Needless to say, she was delayed in Japan for a while. We spent some anxious
days by the phone and were in constant contact with Bethany and the airlines.
Finally, after five days, she was allowed to fly out of Japan on one of the
first 3 flights to the USA. We had a joyful reunion when she arrived 21 hours
later! Kristen, Amber and Grant were all able to be here for it. After spending
some time with us, Bethany moved back to Phoenix.
Amber is now in the middle of her junior year at Grand
Canyon University in Phoenix. She loves having a sister close by and she and
Bethany get together often. Kristen was able to drive down and be with Amber
for her 21st birthday. I’m sure it was fun for the three of them to
spend time together. Amber served as a counselor at Camp Awana for 4 weeks this
summer and did a great job. She has a real ministry with her girls and some
still keep in touch by email.
Denny and I continue to enjoy our home and view. Denny loves
to sit on the deck and watch the numerous aerial activities that take place
over the Air Force Academy. He can watch gliders and planes and especially
loves to see the paratroopers practice their jumps. We have also been able to
see the Air Force Thunderbirds perform – what a thrill!
We try to serve the Lord as He leads. Denny enjoys joining
our college friends George and Kathy Abbas for trumpet trios at their local
concerts when he can. We have found a small new church work and are actively
involved in it. Denny plays his horn every Sunday and has encouraged a few
other members to start playing as well.
I have started helping with some bookkeeping and secretarial
work at church. We host and teach the college/career/singles group every Sunday
night in our home. I continue to go to Camp Awana each summer and work with the
junior high and senior high girls. Occasionally, I still write when I have
time.
We will be blessed to have all of our children home sometime
over the holidays. We have learned that the best blessing is just being
together.
We extend our sympathy to those of you touched by the
tragedy that struck America. We also are praying for our nation’s leaders, and
for the young men and women in our military.
Christmas blessings to you all,
Denny & Linda Zimmerman
