These beautiful creatures are listed as endangered, due to habitat loss and poaching. Poaching tigers can unfortunately be a lucrative business, due in part to the belief by some Oriental and Asian cultures that tiger parts have some mystical, medicinal value. Virtually every part of the tiger has a price on the black market. In the wild you would not find a white Bengal Tiger. A white coat would stand out, causing young white cubs to fall victim to other predators. Although it is possible that white Bengal Tigers may be born on rare occassions in the wild, they would not survive. In the wild, tiger numbers are dropping rapidly. Three species of tiger are now extinct.
