2 ½ cup flour
2 Tablespoons sugar
½ teaspoon cream of tartar
¾ teaspoon salt
4 Tablespoons baking powder
Sift the above ingredients together and add:
½ cup shortening, cut in like cornmeal.
Add:
1 egg
2/3 cup milk
Mix to stiff dough. Knead 5 times on lightly floured surface. Roll ½ inch thick.
Cut and place on cookie sheet. Freeze. Place in a ziplock bag. When needed
take from freezer and bake at 450 ºF for 10 - 15 minutes. Yeilds 18 -20 (3 inch) biscuits
