Peanut Butter Apple Bars

PEANUT BUTTER APPLE BARS

¾ cup whole wheat flour
½ teaspoon baking soda
¾ cup chunk-style peanut butter
½ cup margarine
½ cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
½ cup chunk-style applesauce
1¼ cups quick-cooking rolled oats
¼ cup toasted wheat germ

Grease and flour a 13x9x2 inch baking pan; set aside. In a small mixing bowl stir
together the whole wheat flour and the baking soda. Set aside. In a large mixer bowl
beat the peanut butter and margarine with an electric mixer on medium speed about
30 seconds or till softened. Add the sugar and vanilla, beating till well combined. Add
the eggs, one at a time, beating for 1 minute after each addition.
Stir in the chunk-style applesauce. Then, add the flour mixture to the peanut butter mixture,
stirring till well blended. Stir in the rolled oats and wheat germ.
Turn the batter into the prepared pan. Bake in a 350 º oven about 25 minutes or till a toothpick,br> inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack. To serve, cut into
