This recipe was created in an attempt to duplicate the flavor of Lindt's "Weihnacht's Schokolade" (Christmas Choclate) that I became addicted to while living in Germany. The present recipe is as close as I have been able to come so far in duplicating the flavor.
Ingredients:
1 stick (1/2 cup) butter or margarine, softened
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup flour
1/2 cup european style baking cocoa
1/2 cup nutella
1/2 cup hazelnuts, coarsely ground
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp fresh ground corriander seeds
1/8 tsp salt
Heat the oven to 350°F, and grease an 8-inch square baking pan. In a mixing bowl, blend together the butter, eggs and vanilla until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, cocoa, nuts, cinnamon, corriander and salt. Add this to the butter mixture, stirring until well blended. Add the nutella and blend again. Turn the batter out into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes for moister brownies, or 40 - 45 minutes for firmer brownies. Cool completely in a pan on a wire rack. The cut into squares and serve.
