1 package (8oz) mixed dried fruit
3/4 cup dried figs
3 cups water
1/2 cup raisins
2 Tblsp honey
2 tsp lemon juice
Cut the dried fruit and figs into bite size pieces. Then heat the fruit, figs and raisins in the water to boiling. Reduce the heat and cover, simmering for about 20 minutes. Stir in the honey and lemon juice to mix. serve over yeast or sponge cake with whipped cream and sliced almonds.
Optional additions substitute 1/3 cup of rum or brandy for 1/3 cup water. Add the brandy just before covering the pan.
