Cranberry Sauce

Rutabagas



Cranberry Sauce

Place in a sauce pan:
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Then boil the syrup for 5 minutes.
Pick over, wash and add:
4 cups cranberries ; 1 lb.
Simmer the cranberries in the syrup, uncovered, very gently
without stirring, until thick and clear, about 5 minutes.  Skim.
Add: (2 teaspoons grated orange rinds)
Pour cranberries into mold(s) rinsed in cold water.
Chill until firm. Unmold to serve.

Rutabagas


 Pare and cut up rutabagas.
Boil in water uncovered, until tender, about 1/2 hour. Drain them well.
Add:  salt, lemon juice, chopped parsley or sour cream and nutmeg, butter.
Mash and serve.
