In large bowl microwave milk and butter for about 1 minute or until melted. Blend in sugar, cocoa, and salt. Microwave 4-6 minutes, stirring once or twice until boiling. (KEEP AN EYE ON IT IF YOUR BOWL IS NOT HUGE OR IT WILL BOIL OVER). Add vanilla and peanut butter and stir until well mixed. Blend in oatmeal.
Book's version : Drop by teaspoon onto wax paper covered pan. Cool for at least 2 hours.
Chris's version: Make a double batch pour into a wax paper covered 11x17 inch pan. Spread evenly. Cool for at least 2 hours. Turn out onto cutting board and cut into squares.
