Cutter's is just to the East End of Pike's Place Market in a rectangular building. They have a nice cocktail waiting area, with a nondescript view of the diners viewing the Sound. We met my cousin (C) at 7 for our reservation. We did have to wait a little for our table, which was acceptable, as the last of our party (C's husband (M) and daughter) were driving in from Monroe. J started out with fresh strawberry lemonade and we had focaccia and warm Dungeness crab-artichoke dip. The focaccia is in-house and not too salty. The dip is warm and full of tasty, unfishy crab mixture. The server and maitre'd were a bit on the obsequious side. We mentioned we needed a high chair, then they seated us in a booth where we couldn't place one.
They had a varied menu, from fresh fish to vegetarian to stir fry. They had a special (expensive) crab menu - tempting, but a little much. C & M started out with a great Caesar (a la carte) salad, with perfect cuts of Romaine and bleu cheese. I had the grilled salmon with non-descript mashed potatoes, served on a bed of greens, with bleu cheese and raspberry vinaigrette. J had Yaki Soba with chicken. J says, "Best Yaki Soba in the Northwest!"
We did not pay close attention to what C & M ate, except for a large Dungeness crab leg. For dessert, we were tempted by a Key Lime Pie to split (they brought it cut in two) with a sliver of black and toasted sesame brittle. M had the burnt creme pots (chocolate, vanilla AND Grand Marnier). All very good!
The service was excellent, the view good (though a little dark and out to sea), but nice, especially on a cloudless, calm evening. A must return!
