We called ahead on a Saturday morning to see how crowded they were (no phone reservations) and they said, "Not very." And since we'd heard that they didn't accept plastic, we drove round and round downtown trying to find an ATM. By the time we got to Fox & Goose, they were positively packed and there was a half hour sojourn in a crammed waiting area.

The pub has large ceilings and lots of beer and European ads strewn up and down the walls. It resembles an English pub during the daytime, with a long bar, beer specials on several chalkboards, and several dartboards not in use during breakfast. The tables are set VERY close together, in order to serve as many people as possible. There isn't a lot of room for tables in the pub, so some of the configurations are rather interesting. The menu is a bit sparse, but for a breakfast menu, it is fairly complete: There are breakfast specials, from omelettes to eggs; as well as a la carte selections. I opt for a fresh orange juice and the Welsh Rarebit Omelette with Toast. J, again, having had the advantage of prior trips here, ordered an OJ, an English muffin, and Home-Fried Potatoes a la carte.

Within 5 minutes, we had the great, evenly pulpy orange juice--glass a little on the small side. Another 1-2 minutes pass and we have our food. My companion's potatoes are HUGE: they are large cut with cheese dripping all over them and cool, fresh tomatoes, with grilled green onions. My Welsh Rarebit Omelette is filled with cheese, tomatoes, onion, and...beer. It is a very different taste sensation, but not altogether unappealing. The taste is a little bitter, but really delicious, VERY large and VERY filling. Fox & Goose also has great homemade scones, if that's your fancy.

The portions are good sized, prices are reasonable, service is quick and polite, and for authentic British pub fare, the food is delicious, and the setting quirky and delightful.
