Hacienda del Rio seems like every other Mexican food restaurant with the same dishes - burritos, tostados, enchiladas, etc. - and the same catches - fancy names and the use of the word, "gordo." (In our world of "bigger is better," flour tortillas the size of medium pizzas can be impressive). Hacienda was full of people, but maybe more for its location (with a large sundeck overlooking the Sacramento River) than for its food. I had the tostada, which came with a lot of over-the-hill lettuce and tomato. It also included the requisite teaspoon of sour cream and guacamole and greasy crunchy flour tostada. Another member of our party ordered the chimichanga. The waitress asked him if he wanted rice and beans, and did not tell him of the extra charge until the bill came. When he complained, she snapped at us. In fact, throughout most of the meal, when we tried to get her attention, we had to follow her around to get her to our table so we could order. Everybody in our party was satisfied with our meal, but we weren't raving about it. The service was slow, and we could have done better for our dollar at Chevy's or Carlos Murphy's.
