Tower Cafe's advantage is that it is the closest restaurant to the Tower Theatre. If you want to catch a bite before a movie, and you don't think you can make it from downtown, the location is perfect. The decor is tantamount to the Hard Rock Cafe. If the Hard Rock caters to rock'n'roll lovers, then Tower caters to action/adventure lovers. In the main room, the Cafe appears more quaint; in some of the side arms, it appears as a wild jungle, with overgrown plants, masks, and other dirtied artifacts.
The menu is on the sparse side, but the dishes' descriptions are mouthwatering. I opted for the chicken paprikash, which came dripping with mildly spicy paprikacized sauce and blanched vegetables. However, I was much more impressed with J's Jamaica Jerk Chicken. The chicken was cooked to perfection, and the Jerk sauce came on the side. It was all the right combinations of sweet and spicy! The servings were a big on the large side, so in order to sample a dessert, we had to take some with us. Tower's official name is Tower Cafe and Bakery, and their selection is, pardon the phrase, towers above all the rest. We settled upon the Picasso Tart, a tart/cheesecake with glazed blueberry, peach, strawberry, and kiwi on top. All in all, the service was a little slow, but it was a rich meal, and for the quality of the food, we didn't have to have a lot of money to indulge ourselves.
Tower also has a brunch and lunch menu, which includes salads, burgers, omelettes, and other breakfast fare. Their cakes, cookies, pies, and other desserts are served all day.
