Cannibal Corpse 1991:

Unfortunately all I have of Butchered at birth is a crappy tape, I copied my friends cd. Therefore, some info in this review can be wrong. Sorry, if anyone who owns the cd wants do do a review, please do so and send it in.

This is Cannibal Corpse's 2nd release, and the one that really started the BOYCOTT CANNIBAL CORPSE campaign. Just the front cover(it rocks!) made the "normal" people quake in their boots.
So the CD was banned my most major labels and the lyrics wasn't printed. Hey, they even removed the real cover and put in a wierd black one instead!
Musically, it's a progress from the cheesy Eaten back to life, production is way better, guitars are more powerful, and drums are more balansed. Chris sounds angrier than ever, and none other than Glen Benton of Deicide has guest growls on Vomit the Soul(or was it that one? correct me if im wrong!).
Still, the problem of making the songs sound different and stand out for themselves remain. Cannibal Corpse was a pretty small death-metal band in 1991, and they still weren't very experienced with writing music and recording it. Anyway, this album is prety good, wouldn't call it great, but Meat Hook Sodomy is just so fucking great! Maybe their best song(after Hammer Smashed Face of course). 1
