Old Man's Child was formed in the summer of 1993. Back then the lineup was Grusom[Galder](Guitar/Vocal), Jardar(Guitar), Tjodalv(drums), and Brynjard Tristan(Bass). The beginning was slow and the band didn't progress very much, having alot to do with Galder and Jardar being brought into the Army. However, they were able to record the In the shades of life demo in 1994, which was discovered by Hot Records in Norway, and they signed Old Man's Child. Unfortunately, Brynjard Tristan decided to leave the band. He was playing for both Old Man's Child and Dimmu Borgir, and he decided to put all his attention to Dimmu Borgir. Even though the newbie Gonde, who came to fill up the gap, was an excellent replacement, it's always sad when the original lineup is broken.
In 1996 Old Man's Child recorded their first full length album, named Born of the Flickering. The album contains some really good material, but wasn't heard by very many people outside Norway. The band lost another member to Dimmu Borgir, it was Tjodalv, who just like Brynjard Tristan was in both Old Man's Child and Dimmu Borgir, and decided to concentrate on Dimmu Borgir and leave Old Man's Child. Replacing Tjodalv was Tony Kirkemo. When the band had a complete lineup again, the second album named The Pagan Prosperity was recorded and released 1997. This album had much bigger success outside Norway, and the band grew bigger in the Black Metal world.
The success didn't last though, Gonde became very depressed and it reached the point of attempting suicide, Tony couldn't play the stuff Galder had written, and Jardar was very busy with other things. Old Man's Child turned into Galders solo project when he decided to continue without any of the prevous members. He contacted the famous drummer Gene Hoglan, who has been involved in bands like Death and Strapping Young Lad. They recorded Ill-Natured Spiritual Invasion, with Galder performing guitar, bass, keyboard & vocals..!
For the new album, Revelation 666, the new guy Grimar will play drums on 4/8 tracks, and Tjodalv will return for the other four tracks. I don't know who else will be involved in the recording, but almost certantly Jardar and someone else, I don't know who. Time will tell, I guess.
