Taco Bake - two berries

Originally the "Quick Taco Bake" off the back of a Bisquick box, I have modified it for a simple, quick meal.

Ingredients

TACO MIX
--------
1/2 lb hamburger
chopped onion
1/2 packet dry taco seasoning
1 cup spaghetti sauce OR 8 oz tomato sauce
1 to 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese

BISQUICK MIX
------------
1 cup Bisquick
1/2 cup milk
1 egg

Cooking

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Brown hamburger and onion in a skillet.
  3. Drain grease from hamburger.
  4. Transfer hamburger in a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish. Add dry taco seasoning and spaghetti sauce/tomato sauce. Mix well.
  5. Top with at least 3/4 cup of shredded cheese.
  6. In a small bowl, combine Bisquick mix until most clumps are out.
  7. Pour Bisquick mix evenly over hamburger mix.
  8. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350 degrees.
  9. Sprinkle more shredded cheese on top and bake another five minutes or until cheese melts.

Tips

When serving, you may top this with regular taco toppings like lettuce, tomato, salsa or sour cream.

Low-Fat Tips

Use lean ground beef or ground turkey. If you use spaghetti sauce, look for a no-fat sauce (I recommend the Healthy Choice brand). Reduced-fat Bisquick, reduced-fat cheese, low-fat milk (1% or skim) and either egg whites or egg substitute can reduce the fat even further.
