Meursault Charmes, 1990, Comtes Lafon
Medium deep golden, for a Lafon at least. Beautiful crystal clearness. Opened two hours
before serving and well in need of that time. Rather closed when tasted still, although the
bouquet easily developed within half an hour in the glass. Dryer and less rich than the 1989,
and less voluptuous in general appearance. Taste rather closed up still, and not developing as
easily as the bouquet. With the last glass, the immense complexity began shining through,
adding to the already present body and length of this wine. Attack your precious bottles not
before the end of this century I'd say, but worth the wait.
Tasted May 1997.
