Volnay Santenots-du-Milieu, 1991, Comtes Lafon

Two notes, one from a magnum bottle that was served at a dinner following the Lafon/Leflaive tasting at the Amstel Hotel in June 1996. Not a wine with the meatyness of the 1990 vintage, but an excellently made 1991. The magnum showed better than the bottle tasted later.

Medium to full red in colour, out of the purple shades now. Body matching with colour appearance. Nicely fruity, less earthy than other vintages. Round mouthfeel, though not with the fullness of greater vintages. A point now, but will keep for a few years.
