Bienvenues-Batard-Montrachet, 1991, Domaine Leflaive

The first grand cru in the line up of 1991 Leflaives. Not really impressively bigger in volume of bouquet, nor in colour. Complexity of the nose was impressive though, less 'hedonistic' than the Batard-Montrachet, but very exquisite indeed. Clearly outranking the premiers crus in power though, although the beautiful finesse of these Leflaive grand crus leaves you hardly aware of that untill you taste back down the line. Considerably more length than the premiers crus. A beautiful wine, but outshone by what was to come after that.

Tasted November 1994 at a personally organized 1991 Leflaive tasting. 1
