In the earliest days of my life on
the WWW I have received the support of a few enthusiasts who kept
believing I could do it, despite being a computer illiterate.
Their interest is with the web-world in general, and not with
wine. Still, my thanks go to Nick Steven and Jose M. Enrique,
also known to the world of BBS
Olohof (a
Dutch chatter where I appear as 'plonk') as 'snorky' and
'raptor'.
When my first version of this page
appeared on the WWW, I received encourageing remarks from a few
fellow page-owners. Their remarks have encouraged me to go on
with this time consuming effort. Thanks to Chris van Wincoop and
Robin Garr. Their sites appear below.
A few links:
- Chris van Wincoop's 'Winelovers
Page'
A well designed winepage, that allows the visitor a
virtual visit to a wine castle.
- Robin Garr's Wine Lovers' Page hardly needs further introduction
to the wine-surfer. A true wine lover with a page full of
information, and other links. Rightly chosen one of the
best winesites on the web. So I'm honoured to appear in
your links, Robin.
- The winesite of University
of California Davis is a most impressive one. Any
technical, scientific or bibliographical information can
be obtained there.
- De 'Vinolieren'
are
another Dutch group of wine enthusiasts. The site is
mainly focussed on Bordeaux wines.
- Any scanned wine label is
thankfully accepted by Strat's Place Wine Labels. They're the place where everyone
comes looking, so please send yours there.
- Wine cellar software is
gaining more and more interest of winelovers who use
modern computer technology. On my surfsessions over the
net I have come across a few interesting programmes. At NapaValley/5996 a neighbour of my home site
provides a free of charge Wine Cellar software programme
that is downloadable and appears very interesting. More
professional in development (and in price) is the CD-ROM
software that is provided via Robert Parker's Wine
Software. This extended programma has lots of graphic
features and the luxury version inlcudes a full database
of Mr. Parker's tasting notes. Have a look at www.winetech.com to judge for yourself. I have not
tested either programme yet, but the opportunities of
both programmes seem interesting.
