Hello Vicky, I was doing research on your country. Then I happen to find your site. You have a very Interesting site with a lot useful information. I start researching because I meet a very wonderful girl from Kiev. I been keeping in touch with her through our correspondence, and we became good friend. She might be coming over here(USA) in May. I hope we can meet she seems to be a very interested person. I think Ukraine is very Interesting with it's wheat fields, vast steppes and thick forest. I think Kiev is very picturesque with historic structures and ancient monuments of historical heritage. Thanks for your the information on the Ukraine it was very helpful. Thanks for posting your recipes. I am of Ukrainian heritage too. My grandfather and his 2 brothers came to Canada in the early 1900's. My other grandparents were also all of Ukrainian heritage, they have all since past on. It was very nice to be able o see some of the recipes of which my Granny's used to make. Thank goodness they both, and my mother, taught me how to cook the Ukrainian way! I live in the USA now, in Texas with an American husband. He cannot get enough Ukrainian food! God bless you! Like some of your recipes. They have a little different slant on the Ukrainian home cooking of my mother and grandmothers, but as you said, things change over the years. Well as of June 12, 1999 I gave up the San Jose, California Rat Race and Moved to the Ukraine and got married to a beautiful Ukrainian woman of 36. I accidentally came across your page and I love it. I love computers as well - I am 47 years old and just started my own webpage on a new hobby called "scrapbooking". Come and visit it. I am also Ukrainian. Actually I am Canadian but my father was Ukrainian and my mother was Polish. I will soon be trying to do my geneology but there will be a language barrier. My ancestors came to Canada in 1902 so I am afraid I will have troubles findin out information. I can only try. Very excellent page you have!
