Crenicichla cf. heckeli Rio Cumina (undescribed) Group: Wallacii ? Distribution: Rapids of Rio Cumina Size: 3 inches Comments: A recently imported species. It was collected by Warzel and others during a trip to the Trombetas area in 1997. It is similar to C. heckeli but this fish is more slender. Considering its size, it is an aggressive fish, typical of rheophilic dwarf pikes. It can be spawned in aquaria if aggression is managed. More information on this species and other dwarf pikes in Dwarf Pike Cichlids article.
