Gymnogeophagus sp. aff. rhabdotus Distribution: Uruguay and ArgentinaSize: 4-5 inches Comments: Despite what the image says, this fish is not the real Gym. auatralis. Gy,. australis belongs to the elongated Gymnogeophagus species that include G. gymnogenys and G. labiatus. This appears to be an undescribed species. This fish has a taller dorsal fin and less coloration on the body when compared to G. meridionalis and G. rhabdotus. In Uruguay, it is fairly rare, except in the southwest.
