Gin is the most widely used of all spirits for cocktails; it is the basis for all Martini cocktails and the popular Tom Collins. Besides dry gin, there are others - subtly flavoured with fruit. Sloe gin is the best known of these; it is made from the fruit of the wild blackthorn.

BLUE BAYOU 30 ml Gin 15 ml Galliano 15 ml Dry Vermouth 15 ml Blue Curacao Lemonade Ice Pour gin, Galliano, vermouth and curacao into shaker, shake, then pour into highball glass. Top with lemonade. |
FRENCH 75 15 ml Gin 15 ml Pure Lemon juice 15 ml Sugar Syrup Chilled Champagne Ice Pour gin, lemon juice, sugar syrup and ice into shaker, shake, then strain into serving glass. Top with champagne. |
CLOVER CLUB 60 ml Gin 15 ml Lemon Juice 15 ml Grenadine 1/2 Egg White Ice Pour all ingredients into shaker, shake, then strain into serving glass. |
BRONX 50 ml Gin 15 ml Dry Vermouth 15 ml Sweet Vermouth 15 ml Orange juice Slice of Orange Shake the lot with ice cubes and strain into a wine glass. This could also be served on the rocks in an Old-fashioned glass. Decorate with a slice of orange. |
GINGER ROGERS 30 ml Gin 30 ml Apricot brandy 30 ml Dry Vermouth Dash of lemon juice Maraschino cherry Shake with ice. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass and serve up with a maraschino cherry. |
