Doughn't know what you're gonna serve with the iced tea and lemonade on a hot summer's afternoon ? Well, no matter which words you prefer to sing to this song, the soft sugary dough of this light, sweet cookie will bring a smile to the face of your " sugar baby" or your "sugar daddy". To help celebrate Independence Day, why not sprinkle the cookies with red, white and blue sprinkles, tiny candies or sugar before baking. Enjoy and have a happy and safe July 4th holiday!
You'll Need:
In a large bowl, beat margarine and Crisco with electric
mixer at medium to high until softened.
Add half of the flour and all of the remaining ingredients,
beating until thoroughly combined. Scrape the sides of the bowl
occasionally. Beat or stir in the remaining flour.
Divide the dough in half. Cover and chill for 1 to 2 hours or until easy to handle. Roll each portion of the dough to 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut into the desired shapes. Place 1 inch apart on an ungreased cookie sheet. If decorating your cookies, now is the time to sprinkle the sugar or candies.
Bake in a 375 F oven for 7 to 9 minutes or until the edges are set and the bottoms are lightly browned. Remove the cookies and cool on a rack. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
