In honor of my exciting visit to Patsy's Star, I once again present my recipe for Ginny~Bread Stars. After baking and allowing to cool, since it's Christmas, why not decorate with festive holiday colors or wrap each cooled cookie in thin gold foil, available at food speciality shops.
You'll Need:
In a large bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Beat in the egg, molasses, and vinegar. Sift together dry ingredients and blend into creamed mixture. Chill for about 3 hours.
Roll dough on lightly floured surface to 1/8 inch thick. Cut in star shapes. Place 1 inch apart on cookie sheet. Bake at 375F for 5 to 6 minutes. Do not overbake. Cool briefly on cookie sheet and then remove to rack. Allow to cool before decorating with icing.
Makes 4 - 5 dozen cookies
