TEXTILE SCIENCE
B.Sc. (Hons) in Textile Science
The Institute offers a bachelor's program in Textile Science for student who have successfully completed the Foundation Course with a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) above 2.20.
This program concentrates on advanced level courses in mathematics, physics and chemistry and textile chemistry, polymer and fibre science, fibre processing, fabric development, textile wet processing and apparel manufacturing. Students are also expected to choose from other courses i.e business communication, technical writing, marketing and computer applications in textiles.
Students are expected to undertake in their final semester a research project as part of their degree requirement. This is a written thesis and evaluates the students capacity and maturity in the field of textile science. The area of study, chosen under faculty guidance can be in any textile related area of their interest. The written document is reviewed periodically by a faculty member assigned to oversee the research project.
Students graduating in textile science have a firm base and are able to apply their knowledge to the solution of problems in textile materials involving both chemical and physical principles. The graduate will be concerned with the conception, design, construction and management of complete systems of labour, machinery and processes for the most efficient production of textiles or related chemicals.
Islamic and Pakistan Studies
The course is taught during the Foundation Year. It consists of an overview of Islam as a religion, its contribution to human civilization and its concepts of moral values. The review is intended to emphasize the moral
The course in Pakistan Studies gives a historical perspective which includes the ideology of Pakistan and the Pakistan movement.
During the course a number of guest speakers are invited to enrich the educational programmes.
Seminars
A planned program of inviting guest speakers learned in the fields of history and design of textiles, economics, finance, social sciences, marketing and politics.
