Ingredients
500g Almonds, soaked overnight and peeled
250g ghee (clarified butter)
175ml milk
1 small tin sweetened condensed milk
2 tbsp slivered almonds, chopped pistachios, raisins for garnish
a few strands of saffron
edible silver paper (chandi wark) for garnish (optional)
Method
Blend almonds coarsely without any water.
Heat ghee in a wok. Add almonds and fry slowly on low heat till golden brown.
Dissolve the saffron in a liitle warm milk. Add the remaining milk and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook till milk reduces to half.
Add condensed milk, little by little till desired sweetness is reached. Add the saffron and cook for a few minutes.
Remove from heat and allow to rest for 5 minutes. Garnish with chopped nuts and silver paper. Serve hot.
