Easter Favors

Supplies needed:

small bamboo wreath 3 to 4 inch wide across (outside measure)

straw grass (not cello easter grass)

medium size plastic easter egg that separates in middle (must be large enough to hold chocolate egg)

small flocked rabbit or chick (not more than an inch high)

quarter inch ribbon in white and color of rabbit or egg

glue gun

tiny flowers

The whole project is done using the glue gun.

Lay wreath flat on table as the base and glue straw grass around the inside rim of the wreath.

Glue half of a plastic egg in the center of the wreath on the grass.

Glue flock rabbit on upper surface of the wreath in front of the egg.

Make a small bow using 2 colors of ribbon. Each side of the bow should have 6 pieces of ribbon. Glue in front of rabbit on wreath. Make sure you don't hide the rabbit with the bow.

Cut stems off tiny flowers and glue to center of bow.

Your project is finished except for placing a

chocolate cream egg inside the plastic egg. Most of the time and work is in buying the supplies, the rest is fun and both adults and children love them. You will be surprised at how inexpensive this project is. Good Luck. Have Fun.

Homemade Playdough

1 C Flour

1 C Water

1/2 C Salt

2 Tbsp Cream Of Tartar

1 Tbsp Oil

Cook this stuff until it forms a mess, excuse me, mass in the pan. Turn it
out on a plate, pick an old one, and cover it with a damp cloth, also and
old one. Food coloring may be added. Store playdough in the refrigerator but
do me a favor......don't EAT the stuff.

KID'S SIDEWALK CHALK

SUPPLIES NEEDED:

Empty toiler paper rolls

Plaster of Paris

water

food coloring or dry tempera paints

Mix 3/4 cup of plaster of paris with 1/4 cup of water until it's as thick as mashed potatoes. Set the toilet paper roll upright on waxed paper. Spoon the mixture into the roll. Let rest for 3 or 4 hours until chalk has set. Then peel off the cardboard (it will be damp). Dry completely for 24 hours. To color the chalk, add about 3 teaspoons of dry tempera paint to the plaster of paris before you mix in the water. Liquid paint or food coloring may be added along with the water.

Solution A

2 Cups White School Type Glue (Elmers)

1 1/2 Cups Warm Water

Food Coloring

Mix Well. Tint The Mixture To Desired

Shade Using Food Coloring

Solution B

1 1/2 Cups Warm Water

4 Tsp.. Borax Laundry Additive

                               Dissolve The Borax In Water; It Won't
                               Completely Dissolve, But Breaking Up Any
                               Small Lumps Of Borax Seems To Help.
                               Solution C
                               Gak Synthesis

Pour Solution A into Solution B. Do not mix. Carefully scoop up the GAK from the reaction solution and gently knead it. Carefully knead it since there will be pockets of colored reaction solution that have a tendency to "spurt" out at the most inopportune moment!!! Knead until the GAK no longer feels slippery with water/solution. Enjoy! This stuff is fun to make. For colors that are more intense, you might consider using paste type colorings which can be found in cake decorating sections at cooking type stores.

Silly Putty

2 C White all-purpose glue

1 C Liquid starch

WARNING: Non-Edible
Mix together well. Set on trays for play, or use waxed paper. Can be used as the commercial Silly Putty is.
Store in an airtight container.

Giant Bubble Liquid

1/2 C Joy or Dawn dish detergent

5 C Water -- distilled is best

2 Tbsp Glycerine

Mix the dish detergent with the water. (Measure carefully, it makes a big difference. Stir. Add the glycerine (you can usually get this in a drug store), this makes more durable bubbles.
You can bend a wire coat hanger into a circle and wind a string around it. Depending on how big you make your circle, you get great big bubbles. The string helps in getting the liquid to stay on the circle.
You can also use straws and string-Tie a 2 1/2 foot length of string through 2 straws and unleash square bubbles. The trick is to dip your string and straw thing into the solution, then wave it through the air.
Break the bubble off by flipping the apparatus up a bit.
Plain straws make good bubble pipes. Also try using the plastic strawberry baskets, they make lots of little bubbles. It is fun to experiment with all different bubble makers.
Big-time bubble making is a bit like fishing. You'll have much better luck in cool wet weather. Early evenings, nighttime and early mornings are often good.
Just after a rain is ideal. Don't throw any leftovers away either. The longer your solution sits, the better it gets.
