PART III: PERFECTING WINTER

HARDINESS

Tony Wolfe has said "the chief limitation to growing grapes in this region is cold injury." When starting our vineyards this is one of the primary questions which we must ask ourselves pertaining to ones site and the varieties that are capable of surviving. Those of us who sustained injury and death to vines in the winter of '94' can attest to how serious a topic this is. This seminar will focus on what we can do to send our vines into the winter with the best chance of surviving a cold event such as '94'. A side benefit to this topic is that most of the techniques presented will also give you the best chance of producing quality grapes.

We will be returning to Gallo Rosso this year for another scrumptious and elegant metal. This was a great event last year with many wines to taste and old friends to greet. This can fill up fast so don't delay in signing up! Note: the ice wines with dessert. This package is a deal and a steal.

Please note that we are asking you to bring PA wines for dinner. Many of you did so last year and it proved to be an interesting opportunity to taste PA wines. If you sold grapes to a winery please bring the wine that was made. This should be fun if everyone brings wine. For out of state attendees there should be plenty of wine available.

Registration includes coffee and lunch.

Pesticide core and credit points will be awarded
