SEGA
What is SEGA?
- SEGA is the South Eastern Grape Alliance of Pennsylvania, a non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of wine grape growing in South Eastern Pennsylvania, encompassing the Federally designated wine appellations of Lancaster and Delaware Valley.
- SEGA exists because of the simple fact that this is one of the premier regions of the world for wine production, and yet, even though Pennsylvania is the 4th largest producer of grapes in North America, it is only 12th in the United States in wine production!
- If you have an interest in producing wine and/or growing wine grapes in South Eastern Pennsylvania, contact SEGA or one of the listed wineries. Given the shortage of wine grape production in Pennsylvania,
its a "sure thing" crop in PA!

Resources
SEGA works closely with the Extension branch of Penn State (yes, they do more up there than win football games-there is the off season, after all!) to promote not only great wine grape growing, but also responsible agriculture. Vines planted now should be producing great wines for decades.
Some suggested links:
- Check out
Fruit Pathology this site is loaded with information on disease, disease recognition, and control. There are also links to other areas of interest to the grape producer such as horticulture (more than just weed control), and entomology (we want to know which of the little buggers to spare).
- Prof. Goulart has put together an exhaustive list of
Grape References to PA growers
- Rather than my putting together yet another list of wine links, I'd suggest you check out the
UC Davis wine links page- they are constantly monitoring their pages. Plus, someone there gets paid to do it!
