The fifth annual BC Bingo Championship hosted by the BC Lottery Corporation and I am one of the 75 finalists and we are going to Kamloops on Oct 23 and 24th 2004 for this one. The big prize is a car. One of the 75 people will win the car..
A lady from Abbotsford won the car. Jim and I had a great time.
The 1st Annual B.C. Bingo championship hosted by the Bingo Council of B.C.
I was one of the 25
finalists. The 25 of us went to the Hotel Vancouver to play bingo
for a chance to win a Carribean Cruise. Now those odds are very
good to an avid Bingo Player like myself.
My prize included accommodation for two at the Hotel Vancouver,
the night of September 23, 2000. A cheque for $100.00 for my
transportation costs. Cheryl (my daughter) will accompany me.
We are on our way.
We arrived at the Hotel Vancouver I can certainly see why this is
where the Royal Family stays when they come to B.C. After taking
in all the beauty and elegance we took advantage of the relaxing
sauna and swimming pool. We went back to our room and donned our
big beautiful white robes. We loved the robes so much that we
brought them home with us as a souvenir of our trip. Mind you,
we did pay $95. for each one but they were worth it to us.
At 5 we went to a
wine and cheese reception in the Saturna room on the 1st floor
where we were greeted with our name tags and our welcoming gifts.
(A Sweatshirt--A Bottle of wine--We enjoyed our fabulous
breakfast in the morning using the $15. gift certificate for
Griffins restaurant
In an adjoining room the tables were all set for us and our
guests. We sat down at 6 and the food started arriving.
Gourmet Greens with oranges, Cucumber, fresh strawberries and
toasted almonds with a creamy Italian dressing.
Next
a West Coast Seafood plate with salmon, prawns and scallops with
a safron dressing.
Next
Charbroiled beef tenderloin, Roasted Balsamic Portobello
Mushrooms, Gratin potatoes with Granville Market fresh
vegetables.
This was topped off with
Lemon Cheesecake with Raspberry Coulis and Chocolate Lattice and
hot coffee.
Now I am sure this is a dinner none of us will ever forget.
We were then seated at our bingo tables.. No dabber juice up to our elbows and eyebrows. We are going to punch in our numbers on our little blue boy electronic units that are patiently waiting for us.
The bright lights of
cameras were shining on us. These were CTV cameras. Are we going
to be on TV? The camera men are making a commercial as this is
going to be an annual affair. Watch for the commercial and we may
be there.
Bob Saye (from CKNW) enters the podium and introduces himself
as our MC for the evening.
The first thing he
says is "If anything goes wrong it is not my fault." He
doesn't know any thing about BINGO, and we figured that out pretty quick when
he said you have to get two lines, and isn't that what the guy in
the olympics was doing when he got thrown out.
The host or hostess from each participating bingo hall is called
up. They then proceeded to present all 25 of us with our personal
trophy for being a finalist in the first BC Bingo Championship.
We had all been given a ticket for numerous door prizes. The
tension was building as the door prizes were given out.
In front of each of us our Blue Boy was loaded with 36 faces and
waiting as patiently as we were for the 10 games that were about
to begin.
We started punching
in our numbers as they were called.
The prizes for the first nine games consisted of Televisions,
$300. in bingo bucks from your choice of the participating halls,
Golf for 4 at Furry Creek, A Snowboard, And a ski trip to Big
White in Vernon.
After the first five games we had a break and went to our room to
find a huge welcoming basket filled with various nuts and
chocolates.
They thought of everything.
Now back down to the bingo room to finish the last 5 games and
then the final game
for the Caribean Cruise for Two including airfare from Vancouver
to Miami.
We were playing a
Blackout for this game.
I was sitting with 2 other ladies ( Robbi and Maria) from Nanaimo
that were regulars at our local hall.
Harbor City Bingo Hall
I needed N 41 for a
blackout and there was 4 more numbers called before Maria beside
me yelled BINGO.
Congratulations Maria. Have a great time.
