Description
The prickly pear is a member of the cactus family. It is native to tropical regions of the Americas.The skin of the fruit can vary in color from green to yellow, orange, pink, and red. The juicy pulp ranges from green, to orange-yellow to deep red in color. It is sweet and contains numerous edible seeds.

Preparation and Serving
It is most often eaten raw, but can be cooked. It is often made in to jam and juice.
